Winelibrary hits 400...

Winelibrary TV is now 400 episodes old. Congrats Gary!

The only wine website/blog I view every week...

On to the QPR for the week from my Super Bowl Party:
  • 2003 Chateau Epicure - moderate tannins; great nose; smooth drinking - some tobacco and chocolate on the profile - quite good for under $10 [note link is for the 2004 release]

QPR Wine Sources

QPR? That's Quality-Price Ratio to you and me... the goal, a high one.

A great $100 (retail) [$200-300 at restaurant pricing] wine is easy to do... finding a great wine at $20 a bottle - well that's a whole 'nother story!

So where do you find great QPR wines? A few resources:
  • Wine Library TV - tv.winelibrary.com - Mr Gary Vaynerchuk's great vblog [note not all - or even many - of the wines Gary reviews are high QPR - but read the scores page on his site to find ones that are, or watch episodes as they are released.]
  • DIY - make wine yourself - I'm just about to get started, but find more resources online like finevinewines.com (retail store and website - located in Dallas) and resources like WineMaker Magazine (winemakermag.com) Most DIY winemakers who work from kits will admit you're unlikely to make wine that would retail for more than $20-30 per bottle, but given you can produce such wine for $3-6 per bottle - great returns.
